Just wanted to say a HUGE thank you. We had the most amazing time at the villa, was truly perfect.
The facilities, the pool, the location, the villa itself – you have literally thought of everything! Can’t thank you enough!
We thoroughly enjoyed it!
Eight of us traveled to Maroni Villa. My brother is in a wheelchair so we were pleasantly surprised how accessible the villa was as well as the pool and car!! The whole villa is exactly how it is pictured.
The Scenary from the villa is breathtaking!! The villa was clean, spacious and amazing for disabled people!! The kitchen also had every avaliable accessories for your every need even if you love baking there was endless trays etc. It is ideal for large groups and families. Also Graham and Mary who live down the road were always on hand if you needed anything.
It is a 5minute drive from Zigi where there is amazing cafes. Also in the town of Maroni is the village taverna where the food and hospitality was amazing!! The villa and whole surroundings are amazing!! It has been the best holiday we have ever had as a family and so easy with the ceiling hoist, pool hoist with my disabled brother!! Amazing book it now!
Four of us (late 20’s) stayed at Carpe Diem for a long weekend, it was perfect, more than enough room for us and the amenities in the villa are super, everything has been thought of. The property is obviously very well cared for and maintained and the listing and pictures do not really do it justice. The welcome bits (food & wine) are a lovely gesture and really makes you feel welcome when you’ve just flown in and don’t really want to worry about going to the shops the minute you arrive!
The pool is lovely, and the area around it has been landscaped well so a day lazing there passes incredibly quickly. Everyone we came across was very friendly and helpful, Graham and Mary in particular were amazing, when we arrived, when we asked them to help find us a taxi to Limassol and also for recommendations of places to eat. Maroni itself is very sleepy and quiet but again, people were happy to chat and help out where they could.
The customer service provided by Niki was also above par, even though it was all done via email it was so easy and convenient to confirm dates, book, and she went over and above providing detailed info to help us plan our stay as much as possible.
I would highly recommend staying here to anyone as all in all it’s a fabulous place and I’m sure one, if not more of us, will be back to stay again in the future!!
This is a beautiful villa with stunning views & the owners Nikki and Andy could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. It is in a quiet village, but everything you could need (the beach, great tavernas, supermarket) is accessible within a 5-10 minute drive.
The purpose of this review is aimed more at the fact that the villa is completely adapted for people with disabilities. We have family in Cyprus and try to visit once or twice a year but it has been harder to do so recently as my mother has multiple sclerosis – unfortunately becoming increasingly disabled over the years – and we have found it very hard to find suitable accommodation on the island. We knew of only two properties that were accessible, both in the Paphos region, and the owners of the one that we had stayed at previously sold it a few years back. Many properties in Cyprus do claim to be ‘wheel chair friendly’ but this often means they have a ramp or the odd handrail, but at villa Carpe Diem they have thought of everything. The lower level of the villa has been purpose built in mind for guests with disabilities and includes a walk in shower (with chair) & adjustable height beds. The rest of the villa is accessible with plenty of space to move around and we were also able to hire a mobile hoist and wheel chair adapted vehicle.
Niki was extremely helpful prior to the holiday, checking all of my mothers needs, to ensure they were prepared and everything was set up on our arrival. Nothing was too much trouble-they advised that there was a care agency on the island if we needed extra support which is really useful to know for future stays.
There is a wonderful swimming pool and Andy has recently added a pool hoist which was a huge draw for us as it allowed my mum to really enjoy the swimming. It is great to have met Niki and Andy- they really understand the needs of people with disabilities and are making steps to make Cyprus enjoyable and accessible for all.
We have a cousin getting married next year in Cyprus and my mother is already busy making plans to return just one day after we have got home – she loved every minute of the holiday! If you have any special needs or requirements and are hesitating whether to travel to Cyprus I would recommend you get in touch with Niki as I’m sure she would be more than happy to help and make sure your stay is a comfortable one.
We arrived at Carpe Diem with our party of 9 (4 adults, 3 teens, 2 younger ones) and were truly floored when we saw the home, it was amazing!. We were a little late in our arrival and were greeted by Mary and Graham who were gracious hosts and very helpful in getting us acquainted with the house and local area.
Carpe Diem was absolutely lovely and far exceeded our expectations. The house is nestled amongst rolling hills and farmland and from the home you can see the sea, the mountains, and the quaint town of Maroni. The home was truly perfect for our visit. The pool was clean and refreshing, the home immaculate and completely up to date with modern amenities and containing everything you could want, including a bottle of wine and a semi-stocked fridge with some cold Cypriot beer! We often sat at the rear patio, eating breakfast or having drinks and looking out over the pool and towards the sea, always with a breeze.
The location of the home is near the small village of Zygi, which has an awesome little beach and apparently some great restaurants that we never got a chance to eat at. Carpe Diem is right between Laranca and Limassol and near enough to the local highway entrance as we travelled readily to Nicosia, Limassol and Paphos.
The home worked out so well that half of our party ended up changing travel plans and staying in the home for several more days. We had one small issue with a refrigerator and Graham and Mary called Niki and the issue was resolved immediately. We cannot wait to go back to Cyprus and stay again in Carpe Diem.
We are a family of six with kids ranging from ages 6 to 18. We stayed at Villa Carpe Diem last year and liked it so much we came back again this year! The house is lovely and relaxing. Well equipped for those who want to stay in and cook and well located between the major towns and places of interest for days out or, as in our case as London based Cypriots, visiting friends and family!
There’s plenty of space for all the family lounging around the large and wonderful pool or even indoors. The owners were welcoming and friendly, and very attentive to our needs, for example putting a safety gate at the top of the stairs for our youngest who is overly adventurous. And their “housekeepers” Graham and Mary were also very helpful and based nearby incase they’re needed.
Would happily recommend to other families and “singletons” too.
We felt it was real home for home, with everything we needed and more. The location was perfect too – away from the tourist areas – very peaceful and tranquil. Niki’s directions from the airport were perfect and simple to follow – which was a great start to our holiday. I would highly recommend this villa and we would love to book it again in the future too! Niki’s car hire recommendation was great – the price was very good and we have passed on Andrea’s details to some of our Greek friends who are still in Cyprus.
Our party consisted of 3 adults and 4 children (11,10,6,3 )…carpe-diem is set on a hill surrounded by fields in the sleepy village of Maroni…its very private as there is not many surrounding properties which suited us as it can get quite noisy with 4 young kids…
The property itself is very well maintained and it has all the necessary amenities you might need…its layout is superb…downstairs is all open plan design with a large kitchen and spacious dining area and lounge…upstairs there are four decent sized bedrooms all with a/c…outside there is lovely verandah which is good place to start the day in the sun having your breakfast and enjoying the sumptous scenery…the pool is very well laid out (the kids loved it)although if you have got young children its important to keep an eye on them as the pool is quite
deep on the far side…when we were there (late august) it was very warm so sunblock is essential and its best to be in the shade from 12-3pm…
Graham and Mary were very helpful whenever we needed any help or had any questions…Niki also made organising the trip very easy and provided us with all the necessary information we may have needed including directions to the villa…its really in the sticks and you could easily miss it if you didn’t know where you were going…the welcome pack was a nice touch and appreciated…
Maroni itself is a very small village which has one general store which has all your basics…(bread, milk, eggs etc) and all the local people are very friendly…there is a supermarket about 15mins drive from the villa with a mcdonalds next to it (for a treat for the kids)…
As Cyprus is a small place if you fancy travelling its easy to get to Limasol (45-60mins there’s some lovely restaurants and waterpark ), Larnaka (30-45 mins shopping), Protaras (60-90mins beautiful beaches and great water activities)…closer to Maroni there are some nice fish restaurants (Zygi and Grosvenor Beach)…
I would certainly go back and definitely would recommend it to family and friends as a great time was had by all…
We’ve never stayed in a villa abroad before so we had no particular expectations. From the moment we drove up the hill from Moroni village, however, we sensed that we’d made the right choice and this was reinforced by the warm welcome we received from Andy and Nikki (together with a lovely bottle of local red wine).
Granted, we had the whole villa to ourselves, but I’m sure it would have been just as pleasant and comfortable had there been six others with us – the capacity of the villa, but, please note, there’s a two person flat underneath, especially designed for a disabled person.
The rooms are spacious, tastefully furnished and capable of being cooled to an acceptable temperature by an efficient air-conditioning system. The outside temp fluctuated between 32C and 36C, which made it a little too hot to use the beautiful, large pool during the heat of the day, but, boy, didn’t it make a welcome break in the mornings and evenings with its delightfully cool water, blessedly free from chlorine (a pet hate of mine) and its gentle slope to the deep-end, which makes it ideal for the non- or weak-swimmer.
A further advantage to Carpe Diem is its extensive view across the fields and scrub-land to Moroni village and the hills beyond. The veranda, which extends along two sides of the villa, allows for either shady, or sunny, relaxation, and its elevation means that it captures every passing breeze, which takes the sting out of the unremitting sunshine.
The kitchen is very well equipped with all the necessary accoutrements for home-cooking. There’s a terrific, and totally unpretentious, eating place (it’s not really a restaurant) in the village, but if you order the meze, it’s advisable to ask for one if there are two of you! There’s also another restaurant about a mile away, which makes a pleasant evening walk, and, just beyond that, a market garden that stocks as much veg, fruit, jams, honey etc that you would ever need. The beach is just a short way from there, but it’s just a bit too far to walk to it comfortably.
We hired a car through Budget, which is absolutely essential, since we saw no signs of public transport in the countryside during the week we spent on the island (apart from the bus-stops). There’s so much to see on Cyprus, from neolithic archaeology to the Troodos Mountains, and from its numerous churches and mosques to beautiful beaches, all within easy reach.
Myself and my husband would like to thank Andy for providing such wonderful accomodation at Villa Carpe Diem. We can honestly say we have had one of the best holidays in Cyprus this year. Me and my husband are cypriot and our parents were born in Cyprus, so we have grown up visiting Cyprus nearly every summer and staying with family all over the island. In the last few years we have been staying in hotels around the island and mainly in Larnaca as my sister lives there, but we will never look back on hotel holidays again.
Staying in the villa gave us the flexibility to visit family, go sight seeing and then returning to somewhere that felt like home for 2 weeks. The villa is so very well equipment and beautifully decorated. We had some great late night bbq’s by the pool and also had my sister stay with us with her two young boys, who loved being in the pool all day and night!!
We would definately consider staying at Villa Carpe Diem again as we also really liked Maroni and it’s neighbouring villages of Kiti and Zygi, which does the best fish!!
We must also give a mention to Graham and Mary who maintain the villa as they are such lovely people, who were very friendly during our stay. It was also reassuring knowing they were down the road, should we have had a problems.
Being a high lesion tetraplegic and not having had a holiday abroad for over 15 years I was pleased to be able to take up an offer of a holiday at Villa Carpe Diem. Initially, I was anxious that the apartment I would be using below the main house would be suitable for my needs. However, the owner Andy put my mind at ease before flying. Similarly, he was able to help with my travel and car hire arrangements. Additionally, he was able to arrange for a shower chair and electric hoist for my week’s holiday.
The house is set on the top of a slight hill overlooking the village of Maroni with lovely views of fields surrounding it and views of the sea in the distance and very much far from the madding crowd, which gives you the opportunity of a totally peaceful and relaxing time. The main house has three bedrooms a dining room and lounge with a superb south-facing terrace which also boasts shaded areas. The terrace overlooks the swimming pool, which is the icing on the cake so to speak of the house. Having not been swimming for over 20 years it was therefore a sheer pleasure to be able to cool off in the pool on four occasions.
The apartment below the main house has a double bedroom and next to this is a further bedroom with a single bed along with a bed settee. Thereby enabling three or possibly four people to stay in the apartment. There is also a small fully equipped kitchen, which was suitable for our needs as most of our meals were spent eating in the main house or in cafes and restaurants sampling the superb Mediterranean food on offer on the Island. The bathroom of the apartment not only boasts a bath it also has a wheel in shower so all in all most people’s needs should be able to be catered for.
A car is a must while using the house for the apartment and in turn Andy is able to arrange car hire and should you need it the hire of a wheelchair accessible vehicle. With the apartment being below the main house there is are somewhat steep slope more commonly known as the “Yellow Brick Road” that leads up to the main house. However, for someone taking there own PA/carer or someone who has better use of their arms the slope should cause no problems.
I had an absolutely superb time and in turn managed to see much of Cyprus being as we ventured out most days in the car. My only regret being that I did not stay for another week. Should you or your family therefore be looking for a house with a heart in the sun then look no further than Villa Carpe Diem.
You will find it very hard indeed, to go back to your normal life after a week in this villa.
The place is so quiet, the ambient is peaceful the views are magnificent it made it one of our best holidays.
This is a fantastic, perfect retreat for a large family or more than one family or a group of friends to spend time together.
The villa is absolutely lovely and accommodates the larger group perfectly with plenty of seating and dining areas both inside and out and enough showers/bath for all, you really do feel at home here. A fantastically well equipped kitchen upstairs with fridge/freezer and a further smaller kitchen with a larder fridge downstairs. A modern villa with a contemporary outlook including some Sky channels and an iPod station, which is refreshing for a rental property. The property does have balconies and fantastic views all around and of the sea albeit that the sea is not really a walkable distance it can be reached by moped/car in about 5 minutes. The bonus of this of course is that it is quiet, no noisy pubs/clubs right next door although you would really need to hire a car as you are not on a public transport route. This does means that if you have children yourselves of course or even if not you need not worry that you are making too much noise. The pool with the villa was brilliant and the added bonus of not having to secure a sunbed in the morning with towel is fantastic! (there are plenty of them at the villa!) and you can also go in the pool late into the evening during the summer months as it is plenty warm enough and well lit. Plenty of tables and chairs outside and plenty of lighting to be able to sit outside late into the evening and chat with friends/family. It also provides good accommodation downstairs with a wet room.
The information provided and customer service and support given by the owner and staff was excellent and any queries and emails were answered immediately. Information on how to find the property was excellent and in the villa itself there was plenty of information of places to go and things to do.
If you are looking for late nights clubbing and 18-30 style holiday this is definitely not for you as the distance from the main towns is too far. This is however perfect and more than comfortable for a large family get together which cannot be accomodated under normal circumstances, with fantastic scenery and a pool a bonus.
Intentional or not the owner has provided a marvellous villa in which you immediately feel very much at home. We all had a fantasic holiday here and have some lovely memories to last a lifetime. I would certainly recommend this villa to others.
We had the perfect holiday at Carpe Diem; the accommodation was superb with the most fantastic swimming pool all to ourselves. The villa was spacious, clean and fully equipped. The kitchen had everything you could want for any cooking you may want to do there, although there were lots of excellent local restaurants nearby -notably Father Gregorios, with traditional well cooked reasonably priced food. There were also many good fish restaurants. It was difficult to know whether to eat out or buy the excellent fruit and vegetables that were freshly picked from the nearby farm. The local baklava and honey drenched cakes were irresistible.
The out of village location meant a car was necessary to travel around, but it also meant it was quiet. There is plenty to see around and about we particularly enjoyed Larnanca. The local beaches are not the best in Cyprus but the pool was so fantastic that you didn’t want to swim in the sea, and the pool was big enough for a proper swim .We loved watching the Bee eaters every afternoon whilst floating in the pool, and then the sun setting over the sea whilst enjoying a glass of wine on the balcony.
The owner made sure everything was set up for us and the local contact, who looked after the villa and pool was a useful source of information. We had a totally relaxing holiday and would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a real Cyprus holiday away from the usual tourist spots.
We are staying with 7 persons, 3 kids and 4 adults, at the villa. Plenty of room for everywhone !!
For the kids the pool and the free internet were fantastic.
The place is so quiet and the vieuw is magnificent.
In every room is airco so you can sleep very good by warm temperature outside.
We hired a car during our holiday , this is absoluty essential for making excursions .
Thanks to Graham and is wive for their help and for recommanding the nice place to eat at Maroni !!
Are Holiday was fantastic at villa “carpe diem”.
This is our third time we have spent our holidays at this villa, we come just to chill out in the peaceful and relaxing surroundings. About 40 minutes from Larnaca airport we hire a car as we love driving around visiting the villages , Zygi for the fish restaurants, Govenors Beach, actually a great base for visiting most places, we spent days in Limassol, Aiya Napa, Troodos Mountains and also Paphos. The villa has everything you need, if not the owners try their very best to accommodate. Any problems and there is always someone on hand to phone to put your mind at rest or come round if need be. Eating in and the kitchen is well equipped. There are many places to get your fresh fruit and vegetables we used Carrefour near Larnaca for our supermarket. With four bedrooms and lovely big pool a great place to holiday with friends or family in rural surroundings we often had a wave with the goat-herder who came past the villa on many a day. There is also a annexe on the lower ground floor which is ideal for people with disabilities. The location of the villa is not in a village the villages are nearby this may not suit everyone but if peaceful and relaxing surroundings is your sort of holiday and you like to drive around seeing places then this is perfect.
This was exactly what we were looking for… Carpe Diem is a very comfortable, modern and spacious villa. Quietly located on a hill, the views were superb. Niki and Andy are really nice hosts and very helpful, they even arranged a couple of bikes for us. After our tours it was great to go for a swim in the lovely large pool or to relax in the shades of the brand new porch. They’ve got everything you need, even have a good internet connection. The villages Maroni and Zygi are nearby, with a selection of great restaurants. The location is also great for exploring the beautiful island. We would love to come back! We highly recommend Villa Carpe Diem.
Firstly, the house is beautiful. You get a fabulous view with a great garden and pool and a lots of privacy. It is a great place to relax. The house is very large and clean, with plenty of space for everyone. It is modern and comfortable and the owners have equipped it with everything you might need, it felt like my home away from home.
The location in the Larnaca countryside makes it a very quiet and relaxing place, a car is a good idea as the cities are not very far if you drive. There are plenty of great things to see and do nearby and the owners are very happy to guide you to the best places.
My client is a wheelchair bound individual who requires certain equipment and aids for their day-to-day routine. The house was set up so that the care I provided could be done with ease. The owners were very happy to accommodate us by hiring and even buying some special equipment we required. The villa was great for me, as a carer, as it allowed my client to go on holiday without affecting the care I could provide to them. The accessibility of the property also meant that my client could really relax and enjoy their holiday.
Lastly, the owners, Andy and Niki, were without a doubt, absolutely amazing. They went above and beyond to help us and make sure our holiday was one to remember, even giving up their Sunday to escort us to the hospital for a sprained foot. They were available whenever we had a question, helped us out with any problems and directed us to the best places to visit and places that were wheelchair friendly. The assistance they gave us was better than any hotel could have provided.
I highly recommend Villa Carpe Diem and will be staying here again when I return to Cyprus.
Take me back to the blog page.
